Results for Give to the Max Day
At a recent conference for nonprofits I was “schooled” in the advantages of online giving and decided to give it a try before 2009 became history. I am happy to report the following:
November 17, 2009 was designated as Give to the Max Day for Minnesota charities. E-quip Africa participated asking donors to visit the GiveMN website and donate online. Nineteen individuals contributed $1,580.00 and two more were motivated to do it the old fashioned way by sending checks totaling $250.00. Thank you very, very much! We LOVE our donors!
These contributions were to be matched by several large Minnesota corporations, however, Give to the Max Day generated fourteen million dollars! A mid-course correction was made by the organizers and the “matching funds” were divided proportionately among 3,434 Minnesota nonprofits; E-quip Africa’s share was $58.00.
These donations helped E-quip Africa complete a shipment of 42 refurbished computers and many boxes of used clothing and books to two organizations in Liberia: Youth Crime Watch of Liberia and Movement for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Liberia. These worthy groups are excited and very grateful for your help. Doug was excited and grateful to find an alternate method of shipping items to Africa by piggy-backing on another nonprofit’s container, in this case, Global Health Ministries in Minneapolis.
Our next container is destined for southern Ghana once again in hopes to replace some of the earliest equipment we set up in 2004. E-quip Africa is very short of computers right now, so please help us spread the word to recycle them for the benefit of Ghanaian students.
